Short story:
Why do we say piggy bank rather than cow bank or chicken bank? In medieval Europe, an orange-coloured clay called “pygg” was commonly used to make pots for storing money. Later, in the 19th century, it became popular to make these “pygg pots” shaped like a pig too. Hundreds of years on, we still love piggy banks!
